Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies are, which ones Magius sets when you visit this site, and how you can control them. We keep things straightforward — cookies help us understand how visitors use the site and which pages are worth improving, but you are never forced to accept them.
What a cookie does here
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. It remembers preferences like language, layout choices, and whether you've dismissed a notice. Cookies also track aggregated usage — which pages get the most visits, where readers drop off — so we can fix broken flows and surface the content people actually need.
Some cookies are set by us directly. Others are set by third-party services embedded in the site — analytics platforms, advertising networks, video players. We explain both categories below.
Cookies this site sets
Strictly necessary — these keep the site working. They remember if you've logged into the admin area (editorial staff only), store your language preference, and prevent form-resubmission errors. You cannot decline them without breaking core functions, and they expire when you close the browser.
Analytics — we use Google Analytics to count visits, track which sections get read, and measure how long someone stays on a page. These cookies require your consent and can be declined via the banner. If you block them, the site still works perfectly; we simply lose visibility into aggregate usage patterns.
Preference — these remember layout choices like light or dark mode, whether the navigation stays pinned, or if you've closed the welcome notice. They improve your experience on repeat visits but are not essential.
Third-party scripts
The site embeds scripts from external providers for specific functions. Google Analytics places cookies to track session duration and referral sources. Advertising networks may drop cookies if you arrive via a tracked link, and those networks operate under their own privacy policies — we do not control what they collect or how long they retain it.
If the page embeds a YouTube video, Google sets cookies the moment the video frame loads, even before you press play. Embedded social-media widgets from Twitter or Facebook work the same way. We keep external embeds to a minimum, but where they exist, their cookies follow the provider's own rules rather than ours.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies without installing extra software. The steps vary slightly by browser:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. Choose "Block third-party cookies" or "Block all cookies". Clear existing ones under "See all site data and permissions".
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. Select "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" or set tracking protection to Strict.
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Block all cookies, or choose "Prevent cross-site tracking" to block third parties only.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies. Toggle "Block third-party cookies" or clear them manually.
Blocking all cookies breaks some sites — login sessions fail, shopping carts empty, preferences reset on every visit. Blocking third-party cookies only is usually a safe middle ground.
The consent banner
When you first visit this site, a banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Declining them does not stop the site from working — you can read every page, follow every link, and contact support without enabling a single optional cookie. The strictly necessary ones stay active because they power the site itself, but everything else is up to you.
If you accept and later change your mind, clear the cookies via your browser settings. The banner will reappear on your next visit and you can decline then.
Updates to this policy
We update this document when we add a new third-party service, change analytics providers, or adjust how cookies are categorised. Changes are posted here with the revision date below. We do not email notifications for policy updates — check this page if you need the current version.
Questions about how we use cookies, or requests to see what is stored against your session, can be sent to [email protected]. We reply within 48 hours.
